Brighton – A Poem

4 Apr

Like the beach of an English South Coast City.
Your smile is as warm as the sands are pretty.

The seagulls singing high up in the sun-drenched sky.
Just look at the flowers whilst the songbirds chime.

Ice cream as sweet as your honeysuckle lips.
Eyes more enticing than newspaper wrapped chips.

Dodgem cars spinning and crashing like waves.
Like I’m trapped in this “want-to-be-lost” little maze.

An endless old pier full of wonder struck boys.
The board-walk cracks hiding mystery and joy.

Amusements and slots, losing coins by the bag.
Like I’m lost in that night full of longing we had.

So take a stab at this life, my sweet little Lily.
And come dance with me in our little south coast city.
